Meet The Team
Dr. Philip Putter, DVM
Founder & Owner
In 2015, Dr. Philip Putter, DVM founded Spot On Veterinary. The business launched as a mobile veterinary concierge practice and was immediately successful as clients were drawn to the convenience and comfort of in-home appointments and Phil’s professional and personalized care. In 2016, as demand grew for his services, Phil began the search for property, and soon found a conveniently located piece of property and warehouse that is now home to Spot On Veterinary Hospital & Hotel in Stamford, CT. The 16,000 square-foot facility brings to life his vision of a modern, one-stop lifestyle destination for all pet care needs, and includes a state of the art veterinary hospital, pet hotel and dog daycare, grooming, adoption center and more.
At Spot On, Dr. Putter’s mission is to provide world-class care for clients and their pets through exceptional medicine and distinguished client service. As a passionate animal lover, Dr. Putter and the team treat each patient as an individual, providing personalized treatment plans in an environment that considers their mental, emotional and physical well-being for animals and their guardians.
Prior to launching his own veterinary practice, Dr. Putter worked at a number of small animal hospitals in Ohio, New York, and Connecticut. Dr. Putter grew up in Suffern, NY, and graduated from Vassar College with a BA in Neuroscience. He then attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed his year of veterinary clinical rotations at Ohio State University. Dr. Putter has worked at a shark lab research station in Bimini, Bahamas, and at a large animal preserve in South Africa. When Dr. Putter is not at Spot On, he enjoys traveling, woodwork, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Dr. Putter lives in Nyack, NY with his wife Becky, son Hudson, daughter Emma, and rescue dog, Ticket.
Becky Putter
Director of Operations
Becky has worked hand in hand with her husband to launch this business from the ground up in September 2015. At Spot On, Becky is the director of operations where she manages the practice’s business administration, finances, and marketing. Becky grew up in Massachusetts, graduated from Vassar College, and worked previously in nonprofit development and philanthropy.
Kaeley Blum
Director, Spot On Hospital & Hotel
Kaeley joined Spot On in November of 2016 as the manager of the mobile practice and now oversees all aspects of the Hospital & Hotel. Kaeley has worked in the veterinary industry for 24 years, first as a licensed technician, then managing veterinary hospitals for the last 13 years, most recently providing continuing education and training for hospitals throughout the Northeast. She is also an experienced dog behaviorist and trainer, with roots in shelter medicine and management. Kaeley lives in Brookfield, CT with her partner Dean and their three children Gretta, Zoey and Jake. They share their home with three dogs, one cat, 12 chickens, a Sulcata tortoise, a turkey named Linda, and a ball python named Danger Noodle.
Dr. Anna Larson
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Anna Larson specializes in veterinary dentistry, geriatric feline medicine, preventative medicine, and client education. A Wisconsin-native and Dr. Larson graduated from Ross University in 2010 after finishing her clinical year at the University of Missouri-Columbia and completing cardiology and dentistry externships at the University of Pennsylvania. She currently lives in Norwalk with her toddler, Grayson, her daughter, her loving husband, Anthony, and her feisty calico cat, Mulder.
Dr. Andrew Pickerstein
Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Andrew Pickerstein specializes in geriatric medicine, dermatology, preventative medicine, and chronic diseases. A Connecticut native, Dr. Pickerstein graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. Prior to joining Spot On, he worked at several veterinary hospitals across Connecticut developing strong relationships with the veterinary community. Dr. Pickerstein currently splits his time between Old Greenwich and New Haven with his partner Moira, 3 children Isaac, Jade, and Skye, his dog Rex and step cat, Brady.
Dr. Alistair Chapnick
Orthopedic & Advanced Soft Tissue Surgeon
Dr. Chapnick graduated from Syracuse University in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He received his Master’s Degree 1999 in Animal Science from Hahnemann University.
He then attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, receiving his DVM in 1999.
After graduating from veterinary school, he works for several years with a renowned veterinary surgeon in Westchester, NY, gaining invaluable skills and fostering his calling for surgery. In 2001, he completed a rotating internship in medicine and surgery at the Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center, Norwalk, CT. After completing his internship, he worked for several years, gaining knowledge and experience in general practice, shelter medicine, emergency medicine, and surgery.
In 2005, Dr. Chapnick moved to Florida to pursue advanced training in small animal surgery at Affiliated Veterinary Specialists, Maitland. He completed a one 1/2-year small animal surgery internship in 2006 and a three year small animal surgery residency in 2009.
After completing his surgical training, Dr. Chapnick started the surgery department at Veterinary Healthcare Associates in Winter Haven, Florida, where he gained extensive experience in soft tissue, orthopedic, and neurological surgery. He has a special interest in stem cell therapy, reconstructive, orthopedic, and neurosurgery.
Over his 20+ year career, Dr. Chapnick expanded his skill set by completing advanced veterinary courses, including small animal fracture management, external skeletal fixation, arthroscopy, total hip replacement, or abdominal ultrasound and stem cell therapy.
In his spare time, Dr. Chapnick enjoys outdoor activities, including fishing, boating, snowboarding, and paddle boarding, especially with his two sons, Austin and Alexander.
Sue Stewart
Manager of Spot On Pet Hotel
Sue is a seasoned pet care professional with over 25 years of experience as a groomer and facility manager. A passionate animal lover, Sue grew up with dogs, cats, hamsters, ferrets, rabbits, and even birds – it’s no surprise she chose the pet industry as a career! Sue started her profession in the grooming industry, then decided to pursue lodging management, where she has remained for some 20 years. Sue aims to provide a safe, caring and a nurturing environment for all dogs and cats that call Spot On their second home. Sue lives in Trumbull CT with her three children, and cavalier king charles spaniel, Olaf.
Erica Lagotte
Lead Stylist, Spot On Spa
Erica is an expert grooming professional, focused on providing Spot On pet clients with picture-perfect pampering services like bubble baths, breed specific cuts, luxurious coat treatments, massages, paw-dicures and more. Erica began her career as a veterinary assistant at the Pace University Nature Center, where she cared for a wide variety of local and exotic wildlife. In 2007, she entered the grooming world, learning the trade as she helped to grow a new grooming shop in Westchester. Over the past decade, her attention to detail and understanding manner with both her canine and human clientele has amassed her a loyal base of customers. Erica welcomes all breeds and all temperaments onto her grooming table. Erica lives in Pound Ridge with her brilliant hound mix, Doug, a sweet cat named Penelope, a troublemaker cat named Olive, and Hobbes, the chatty Quaker parrot.
Janet Willhite
Lead Trainer, Spot On Training
Janet Willhite has been working with dogs since she was 16 years old and has more than 30 years of continuing education and experience training animals.
Janet’s training method is through positive reinforcement and balanced training. She prides herself at turning pet owners from “no, bad dog” to “what a good puppy!” She loves to help teach pet owners about how puppies learn and develop, allowing pet parents to enjoy the journey of growth and building successful bonds between owners and their 4 legged family members.
Janet’s passion is being able to enhance the relationship between animals and their owners through teamwork and she brings her enthusiasm and infectious positivity to Spot On to offer the most comprehensive training experience available.
